YOUR LAST CHANCE TO COME AND SING 'SING'!

Over 30 people showed up last Friday to rehearse SING for the Farewell Lunch for Jim and Judy on 22nd July and there will be a second run-through at 8pm at St Paul's this coming Friday (20th).  If you were unable to be with us last week but would like to join in, do come along.  If you want to hear the song first, log on to You Tube and type in ‘Sing Lyrics’ and the press the Union Jack picture.  Hope to see you there.

HELP NEEDED!

It would be good to have a team of 4-5 people to take care of the washing up after Sunday’s lunch at Sarratt Village Hall (there is a dishwasher!).  If you would like to volunteer, please email julia.lawrence10@btinternet.com or phone 01923 260504.  Many thanks.

BELLS TO BE RUNG/TIME OF PRAYER AT HOLY CROSS 8.12am on FRIDAY 27 JULY

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic games is calling for bells to be rung across our nation:  any bell, anyone, anywhere.  Everyone in the UK is invited to ring a bell at the same time (8.12 - 8.15am on 27th July 2012) so that the sound of thousands of bells will be heard across the land!  Find out more on www.allthebells.com

There are many who believe that the ringing of the bells heralds a turning point in the spiritual life of our nation and we are invited to stop whatever we are doing and pray at 8.12am on Friday 27th July.  A suggested prayer is written below.  Some may want to use this time for individual personal prayer but if you would like to pray with others, please meet at Holy Cross at 8am.

Jeannie Poulton

 O Lord God Almighty, We worship and bless Your Holy Name. We bring the British Isles before You.  Have mercy on us and forgive our foolish ways.  Come to our aid, Father. Cause your will to be done among us.  Come, Lord Jesus; You alone are the Way, the Truth and the Life.  May You be honoured and glorified in our nations.  Come, Holy Spirit; refresh and revive us again.  Draw us after You and let us run together.  In Jesus’ wonderful Name.  Amen

GOING FOR GOLD!  5 ALIVE SERVICE-10.30AM SUNDAY 29TH JULY AT CHIPPERFIELD BAPTIST CHURCH

This will be a time when all from our two villages can gather together to consider an Olympic theme. On this particular fifth Sunday our two churches will meet at Chipperfield Baptist Church and we thank Pastor Jason Gain for hosting us on the 29th. Please note that there will be no 10am services in either Holy Cross or St. Paul’s on this Sunday.

And finally…for Jim, Judy & Tom, a traditional Gaelic blessing:

‘May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand’.
