Holy Cross Flower Festival.
Children’s Parade of Flowers 30th June 2013.
Excitement is mounting as this year’s Flower Festival approaches. The organizers are hoping that people all over the village are baking for the cake stall, potting-on for the plant stall and looking out treasures for the bric-a-brac stall, not to mention getting fit, ready to help put up the tents and planning exquisite flower arrangements for the church!
This year there is to be a new event at the Flower Festival, a ‘Children’s Parade of Flowers.’
The event will take place during the 10am service on the Sunday morning of the Flower festival. All children in the village are invited to make either a flowery headdress, a posy, garland, hoop, decorated hat or cap or even just a button hole. They are then invited to wear them to the church door ready to join the Parade into the church at 10am.
Children of any age are invited to take part, there is no upper or lower age limit, even babes in arms are welcomed, providing both they and their carriers wear a flowery decoration of some sort! If your child would like to join in but is a bit shy then you can, of course, come in with them and hold their hand – providing you have a flower or two about your person!
On the Saturday of the festival, Sophie Goldthorpe will be on hand to help any child make a headdress. She will be in a small tent at the Flower Festival in the churchyard. Just turn up with a few flowers and she will help you to create something beautiful.
We look forward to seeing as many children as possible on the morning of Sunday 30th June. Mothers, fathers, grannies and granddads, uncles and aunts indeed everyone is welcome to the service!
