St Paul’s
Music in the main services is led by the Director of Music, Keith Beniston who brings a professional approach to the more traditional aspects of music in the church, accompanied by the fine three manual TC Lewis/Hill organ, restored and modernised in 2008. The robed choir sings not only at the traditional services, but also at weddings and other special services and concerts. The latter have included the Mozart Requiem, the Nelson Mass by Haydn, semi-staged concert performances of HMS Pinafore, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and Oliver as well as various recitals. Orchestral support is introduced on occasions especially at Christmas where the church is at full capacity. Services of Choral Evensong are held occasionally throughout the year.

Holy Cross
The robed choir supports the regular services under the direction of David Clough. The choir is augmented on occasions to sing at the annual Flower Festival Concert, and to provide support at the Village Carol service where the church is at full capacity. Music is taken into the villages at Christmas with carol singing and on special occasions such as the Queen’s Jubilee, when the choirs from both churches combine.

Music making in the Benefice is one of the many strengths of the two parishes, taking high quality music out to all age groups. This is an important outreach into the communities, using local skills and talents, often of those who are not regular churchgoers.

Choir rehearsals for both churches are on Friday evenings - new members are always welcome. If you are interested, simply join us at any rehearsal. There is no audition. Some music reading ability is desirable though not essential.
